Gout arthritis

Gout

Gout is one of the most painful rheumatic diseases, it is one of the oldest known diseases and was once considered "the disease of kings" It is a complex disorder that can affect anyone and it does affect more than 2 million Americans (5 percent of all cases of arthritis). More men get gout than women.

It causes sudden, severe pain, tenderness, redness, heat, stiffness and swelling in your joints (the effect of the inflammatory arthritis). It often (usually) affects the big toe. If it is not treated, joints can collect urate crystals in masses called tophi.

"Thank you, thank you, and thank you! I cannot describe to you the amount of pain I had before I heard about your tea from a friend. I was very skeptical, I mean, an herbal tea and only 2 ounces twice a day? I am so glad that I tried it. The pain disappeared within weeks and I am using your tea now for almost 4 months. I will keep on drinking it; I might just switch to the maintenance dose in a month or two. Thank you again, I am telling everybody I know about Essies tea.". ...More...

It is caused by high blood levels of uric acid, a waste formed from the breakdown of purines. Normally, uric acid is dissolved in the blood and passed through the kidneys into the urine, where it is eliminated. If the body produces too much uric acid, it builds up and forms needle-like crystals in a joint or the surrounding tissue. This can also happen when the body eliminates too little uric acid. These crystals cause pain, inflammation and swelling in the joints and surrounding tissue.

Gout symptoms

High levels of purines in the blood are called hyperuricemia. Hyperuricemia also may result when a person eats too many high-purine foods, such as liver, dried beans and peas, anchovies, and gravies. Deposits of uric acid, called tophi, can appear as lumps under the skin around the joints and at the rim of the ear. It can also collect in the kidneys and cause kidney stones.

Real gout are caused by crystals of monosodiumurate, and false gout (pseudo gout), is caused by crystals made of calcium pyrophosphate dehydrate. False gout is usually felt in the large joints (knees, wrists and ankles) rather than the big toe.
